How To Measure Guide

For any sleep space, whether it's a Moses basket, crib, next-to-me crib, travel cot, cot, cot bed, or single bed, it should be assembled fully before measuring for the mattress.

With your sleep space assembled, measure the interior length and width of the cot base accurately.

For cribs, travel cots & next-to-me cribs with fabric sides, measure the length and width of the solid bottom base only.

Before finalising measurements, consider these safety guidelines: Ensure the gap between mattress and cot sides/ends is no more than 3cm. Larger gaps risk trapping limbs, posing danger. Adhere to British Safety Standards; mattress should snugly fit, typically 1cm shorter in length and width for bedding. For drop-side cots/cot beds, consider 2cm width reduction while maintaining snug fit.

Additionally, we suggest checking for a stamp or sticker that often indicates the correct mattress size via the manufacturer.

If measuring for a cot or cot bed, consider the following: Ensure the cot mattress isn't too tight against the sides, especially for drop-side cot or cot bed models, as an oversized mattress may hinder the use of this function.

If measuring for a travel cot, cot or cot bed, consider the following: Check that the space between the top of the mattress and the top of the cot side bars is at least 50cm, preventing toddlers from climbing out. Cot/cot bed mattresses for British standards should not exceed a depth of 10cm.
