Caring For A Natural Mattress - What To Expect

Caring for Your Natural Mattress: What to Expect

Temperature regulation, natural flame resistance, and gentle support are just a few of the benefits offered by our all-natural mattress fillings. Handcrafted in England, our Tiny Dreamer Natural mattress range is carefully stuffed with coconut coir and 100% lambswool.

This guide is tailored for parents who have invested in our Tiny Dreamer Natural mattress and seek insights into its care. Wool-based mattresses require regular maintenance, including flipping and rotating, to uphold their shape and prevent sagging.

Upon Delivery: Upon receiving your mattress, carefully review the accompanying mattress guide and promptly implement the recommended steps. Due to the delivery process, your mattress may have undergone slight compression. Allow it to rest flat for a period of time before dressing it with fresh cotton sheets. Opening windows to enhance air circulation can expedite its return to shape.

Regular Airing: Upon unpacking your mattress, you may detect a distinct odour. This is typical, as the natural components - lambswool, coconut coir, and natural latex - each possess their own inherent scent. This unavoidable aroma will gradually dissipate over time, ranging from a few days to a few weeks. Rest assured, it is entirely harmless. Adequate ventilation is essential. We advise airing out your mattress weekly to facilitate moisture desorption and release. Additionally, exposing the mattress (without bedding or covers) to direct sunlight for 3-4 hours on each side can aid in deodorising, as sunlight possesses natural deodorising properties. Opting for 100% natural fibre sheets, such as cotton, further promotes mattress breathability.

Regular Rotation: An all-natural mattress requires regular rotation from foot to end as well as rotating 360 degrees using both sides. This ensures even distribution of the filling and prolongs the mattress's lifespan. As wool-filled mattresses are typically quite heavy, you may require assistance to rotate it.
